Phyllis June Quarles

Phyllis June affectionately known as “June Day” Quarles, 78, of Arlington, VA died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her home. She was the daughter of the late John and Zula Bonds Quarles in Bedford County, Virginia. She was retired from Verizon as a customer service supervisor. “June Day” loved playing Black Jack, watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud and was honored and blessed to attend The Inaugural Ball for President Bill Clinton. She is survived by her children; Stacey Watkins, Carlton Watkins, Kathy Bryant and Donna Watkins; the father of her children during their 20 years of marriage, Louis Watkins; her very special grandson, Donny Watkins; her beloved granddaughter, Ebony Day; grandchildren, Kyle and Crystal Bryant, Collin Brown; three siblings; Mary Bell Evans, Shirley Quarles Bonds and her devoted brother, Robert “Booker” Quarles; a very special friend, Gwendolyn Gregory and her longtime friends, Geneva Tuck, Thelma Grayson, Tyrone Harmon and Lewis Nelson. Her family is sincerely grateful and appreciative of her home care team, Capital Caring, Megan, Celestine, Pilor and Anthony as well as her physicians, Dr. Kong, Dr. Hayles and Dr. Zima. The family will receive relatives and friends at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 with the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, VA.
