Arthur Joseph Scarano

Arthur (Art) Joseph Scarano left his earthly life on July 12, 2021 following a chronic illness.

Born in 1941 in Bronx, New York to Joseph and Dorothea Scarano, Art graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959.  Art served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and was a recognized sharp shooter.  Following his military service, Art attended Pace College where he earned a degree in Business Administration.  

In the 1980’s, Art moved to Northern Virginia and worked in the marketing department of AT&T.  Upon his retirement, Art pursued and obtained a Master Degree in Theology from the Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College in 1997.  Art loved and proclaimed the everlasting Truths and teachings of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

A devout member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for over 35 years, he used his talents and knowledge in theology to serve on the RCIA team as a teacher.  

Also a professed Secular Franciscan, Art founded the Arlington Diocesan Padre Pio Prayer Group chapter which met monthly at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church since 2003 which Art faithfully led until his passing.

Preceding Art in death were his parents. He is survived by his three daughters, Janine, Michelle and Dorothea, and his son Joe, his siblings Joe, Steve and Elena, and countless friends who loved Art so much and will remember him fondly.

A Viewing will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA, on Friday evening July 16, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm that will include a Vigil Service.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 17, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 11:30am followed by a reception.
