Colleen A Sheehan

Colleen A Sheehan, 61, of Alexandria, VA passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023. She was born October 13, 1961 in Bermuda as the family was there for her father’s first duty station. After moving around a lot as a military child, Colleen graduated from Fort Hunt HS in 1979, attended James Madison University, and chose Alexandria as her home. 

Colleen was gregarious and had a smile that lit up the room with a personality to match. She loved family, friends and experienced her life to the fullest. Colleen was as content at a boisterous family gathering as she was with neighborhood friends at an evening on her backyard patio. Her career took her to various positions that she enjoyed, learned from, and excelled. Colleen had a successful career with the US Patent Office for twenty years. She was previously employed at Gannett’s USA Today, and at Xerox.

Colleen was very proud to be one of the extensive Sheehan clan, having numerous aunts, uncles and cousins growing up. Subsequently, she was a proud Irish Catholic who was very much involved with her parish church. 

Colleen is predeceased by her parents Louise and James Sheehan, and is survived by her sister Cinda (Sheehan) Haas and brother Brad Sheehan, six nieces and nephews, as well as many close neighbors and friends.

A visitation is to take place at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302. On September 7, 2023, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM

A Mass of Christian Burial is to take place on September 8, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church, 3815 Russell Rd, Alexandria, VA 22305 with Interment soon to follow at Columbia Gardens 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201 

It is suggested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Rita Catholic church.
