Daniel Davison Tansill died peacefully at his home, with family by his side, on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, after battling cancer. He was 70 years old. He is preceded in death by his father Charles Benjamin Tansill, mother Doris Conner Tansill and older brother Charles Raymond Tansilll.
Dan grew up in Sunnybrook, Maryland, graduated from de Matha High School and settled in Alexandria, Virginia. He retired from Minuteman Press in 2015. Dan was known for his culinary and baking skills. He also enjoyed gardening and watching classic movies. He was an avid collector of antique glassware, sculptures and Asian art. Being a favorite Uncle, he will be remembered for his quiet, mischievous presence, peanut butter balls, outrageous brownies and special shrimp dish.
He is survived by his cherished husband Andrew Leben; sisters Mary Ann Tansill, Patricia Magruder (Eric), Elizabeth Ellen Ryan; nieces Doris Tansill, Francis Davison (Sven), Katherine Magruder; nephews, George Tansill (Millie), Lawrence Tansill (Linh Nguyen), Michael Magruder (Helen Todd), Elmer Ryan (Eve); great nieces Josephine Davison, Alison Habina, Alexandria Davison; great nephews William Tansill, Kristof Davison, James Ryan; and his beloved cat Tom.
His courage and faithfulness have inspired all. We miss you, Dan.
