Delores Ann Hensley

February 9, 1945 ~ February 18, 2021 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Tribute

Our beloved Delores Ann Baker Hensley, entered into rest on February 18,
2021 with family by her side. She was born in Alexandria on February 9,
1945 to Harold Upton Baker and Hannah Virginia Davis Baker who have
preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Terry “Teddy” Hensley, her
daughters Dawn Hensley Reid and Dana Hensley Kelly (Robert),
grandchildren Rebecca Blankenship (Ricky), Blake Reid, Bobby Kelly,
Christopher Kelly, Thomas Kelly, and sisters Susan Hodges (preceded in
death Rev. Wendall Hodges), and Helen Hensley (Alvin).

Delores graduated from George Washington High School in 1963 and then
immediately started her first federal service job at Fort Belvoir, VA. After
some time off to raise her daughters, she returned to the Federal
Government in 1980 and continued to have a rewarding career as a
Budget Analyst earning multiple awards and retiring as a GS-11 on
January 3, 2007.

Delores was a Christian and a dedicated member of First Assembly God
church in Alexandria for over 70 years. Delores put the Lord at the center
of her life. She accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1967 and raised her children
in the church. Delores served the church in many capacities, such as, the
Sunday School Secretary for 30 years until 2004. She was involved in
Women’s Ministries, bible studies, the Blessing Room, bus ministry
visitation, choir, and church yard sales. During her retirement years,
Delores participated in the Senior Saints ministry and later provided
luncheons for Tuesday Blessings and helped crochet for Helping Hands.
Delores played an important role in the planning of the 100th Anniversary
Celebration of First Assembly of God in 2017. She cherished church
members gathering to reminisce the days of the past and celebrate
together the bond they shared in their service to the church. She treasured
her church family and enjoyed the nostalgia that came from looking over
old pictures and memories from over the years spent at First Assembly.

Delores loved the color pink and anything floral. Her favorite past-times
were spent with her two sisters, shopping, going to yard sales and
organizing estate sales, traveling to Virginia Beach and Waynesboro to
visit family. Delores’ presence will be greatly missed by all who love her.

A Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, February 23 and
Wednesday, February 24 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home.
A Visitation will be offered at 10 am until time of funeral services at 11:00
am, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at First Assembly of God Church.

Due to COVID, CDC guidelines will be followed and there will be
attendance limitations in the church. Please contact a family member with
your intentions to attend. We want everyone to feel safe and stay healthy.

A private interment will be at Pohick Episcopal Church Cemetery, Lorton
VA where Delores will be laid to rest alongside her parents and many
other family members. Today, she resides with her Heavenly Father and
