A longtime resident of Alexandria, VA for 58 years, Eileen L. Serice entered the gates of heaven on July 17, 2021 at age 94 with her loving children by her side. She was born July 12, 1927 and raised in Washington, DC, where she worked for several years as an executive secretary for the US State Department, once joining Eleanor Roosevelt on a work trip to Europe, prior to marriage. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Dan Serice, in 2014, and her brothers Lloyd and Dr. William Lyons(II).
Eileen was the epitome mother and homemaker, always there for her children's needs and encouraging them to pursue their desires. Her unselfish, curious and outgoing personality gained her many long-time friends in the community and church. Her early family years were spent enjoying family road-camping trips to various parts of the country and beaches. During her husband Dan's retirement, they enjoyed exploring and further learning on their travels around the country with ElderHostel (Road Scholar) and on cruises.
Eileen is survived by her four children Roy, Claire, Paul, and Janelle, and four grandchildren, Danielle, Reanna, Gordon, and Sophia. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, where she joins her husband Dan for eternal rest, at a later date.
