Bancroft, Elizabeth-Ellen Coffin, 64, died peacefully July 3, 2022 at her home in Alexandria, VA. Born April 5, 1958 in Alexandria, survived by her husband Charles John Sims, sons Charles Royce Bancroft Sims and Caleb Coffin Bancroft Sims, sister Mary-McLean Bancroft Jones and best friend Jacqueline Roland McNeal. She was the daughter of Frederic Wolcott Bancroft and Ellen Coffin.
After graduating from Saint Agnes School, Alexandria, VA, she earned her associate degree in communications from Endicott College, Beverly, MA. In the late 1970s in a field primarily dominated by men, she proudly obtained both her FCC licenses and entered the professional broadcasting workforce at WSKG Radio in Binghamton, NY. She spent 37 years enjoying her career as a technical engineer for the Public Broadcasting Service. As a believer in giving back to the community, she volunteered in many capacities throughout her life including with the Fairfax County Library, St Aidan’s Episcopal Church and the Boy Scouts of America.
