Ellen M. Horton

Ellen M. Horton (Young), 88, of Alexandria, VA died peacefully November 15, 2022. She was born in Arlington, VA, the daughter of Archie and Elizabeth (Smith) Young.

Ellen retired from General Services Administration after 25 years of service. She was a member of Del Ray United Methodist Church and past president of United Methodist Women.  Her Christian faith sustained her. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She will forever be remembered for her kind smile and distinctive laugh.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Tim and her son Benny. Surviving are her sons Douglas of Alexandria; Bill (Lynn) of Catharpin; daughters Sharon of Belleview, FL and Peggy (Patrick) of Stafford; grandchildren Valerie, Maureen, Laura and Cary: and seven great grandchildren; sisters Ann and Janice (Denny); brothers Bob (Barbara) and Keith (Janice); many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Del Ray UMC, 100 East Windsor Ave., Alexandria, VA.
