She attended St. Mary's School, and St. Mary's Academy, Alexandria, Virginia. While attending St. Mary's Elementary School in 3rd grade she met the love of her life Bernard Leo Sweeney (deceased). After graduation from the Academy, Bernard and Grace were married and had two son's Bernard Blakely and Brett Anthony Sweeney.
Her first job was with the American Red Cross in Alexandria, Virginia. Her husband Bernard worked for the U.S. Postal Service and became the Assistant Postmaster of Alexandria. She then went to work for her brother's (Richard) business, Alexandria Arts and Crafts, Alexandria, Virginia. After the store closed she pursued a career with the U. S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), Alexandria, Virginia as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist. While working at AMC she was elected as Treasurer and then National President of the of the National Association 0f Postal Supervisors Auxiliary, lobbying for postal legislation.
Once she retired from AMC, Grace and Bernard decided to do a little traveling. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard, maintaining the gardens, and landscaping. Grace was a kind and loving mother, aunt, friend, mother in law, and co-worker. She loved all her nieces and nephews and their children, and any child that she came in contact with.
She leaves to cherish her memories two devoted sons, Blake Sweeney, and Brett Sweeney (Sandra), one grandson, three great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews and their children, and a host of relatives, and friends.
