John Edward Hurley Jr. passed away April 22, 2021. He was 73. Born in the District of Columbia on March 2, 1948, to Dr. John Edward Hurley Sr. and Mary Patricia Doherty, John lived nearly his entire life in the place he loved the most: Northern Virginia and the greater DC area. As a graduate of University of Maryland, he dedicated his life to HVAC and Technical Education. He retired after 32 years of teaching service at Northern Virginia community college. He and his wife Robin built their family home on quiet Lake Arrowhead in Stafford, Virginia where they raised their family. He was a well-traveled Jack-of-all-trades and was always satisfied with the simple and wonderful things in life. His passing comes shortly after the passing of his sister, Nancy Miskin. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Robin and their three children: John Edward Michael "Mike" Hurley and his wife Andrea, of San Diego, CA, Dr. Amber Johnson and her husband Justin of Lorton, VA, and Shawn Mathew Hurley and his wife Kaitlyn, of Richmond, VA. John is also survived by his four grandchildren: Owen, Norah, Mia, and Declan; his sister Joan; and he left quite a few unfinished DIY projects. The service will be at Mount Comfort (6600 S Kings Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306) starting at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 28th.
