In May of 1962, Linda graduated from Central High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee, now known as Lincoln County High School. She came to Washington, D.C. in 1965 to work for her congressman, The Honorable Joe L. Evins and served as an assistant in his office until he retired at the end of 1976. Following Mr. Evins’ retirement, Linda joined the staff of the newly elected senator from Tennessee, Jim Sasser, and remained on his staff in the senate for 18 years. In 1996, then president Clinton appointed Senator Sasser as the American ambassador to Beijing, China and Linda and her husband, the late Jim Graham left for Beijing where Linda worked there as personal assistant to the ambassador for three years.
Linda loved politics and was a “dyed in the wool’ democrat her entire life. She always was willing to lend a hand to those in need and will be sorely missed by her many congressional friends and especially by her beloved Carl Hallstead.
