Tribute

Naomi Janice Gonyea, 71, formerly of Irving, NY, passed away August 10, 2019 in Arlington, VA.  She was born January 27, 1948 in Buffalo, NY.  Naomi was a member of the Turtle Clan of the Seneca Nation of Indians.

Naomi received an Associate degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, NM.  After a few years working for Pacific Bell in Los Angeles, CA, she and her family moved to Alexandria, VA.  Here she joined the Church of St. Clement and taught the class for three year olds in the church’s school.  Most recently, she was the receptionist for McEnearney Associates in the Old Town Alexandria office for the last twenty plus years.  She met almost everyone who walked through their front door.  Always kind and generous, she easily made close friendships.  She enjoyed bird watching, walking, corresponding with friends, and taking road trips to visit her mother in Irving, NY.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stephen, her daughter Katherine, her mother June Conklin of Irving, NY and her sister Louise (Don) Putzback of Forrestville, NY.

She is predeceased by her father, Chester Conklin.
