Ralph J. Trout entered the army military service when he was nineteen years old and served as a Staff Sargent in the Korean War.  After eight years of employment, he married Loretta B. Taylor of Beaufort, NC on April 1956 and resided in Alexandria, VA.  Two years later, they raised twins, Robert and Roberta.  Mr. Trout was a resident of Alexandria, VA for 63 years.

After his marriage, he became self-employed and worked as a painter, a carpenter, a handyman, and a property manager for the Alfred Street apartments until he was 89 years old.  Mr. Trout was heavily involved in the local community preparing monthly pancake breakfasts, being president of the Del Ray Methodist's Men and ushering at the Del Ray Methodist Church for 40 years.

He could be found every week enjoying a hearty lunch with his best friend, working in the yard, fixing lawnmowers, or watching old westerns on TV.  He was very knowledgeable, talented, a workaholic, and helpful to many people in the community.  His most blessed joy was spending time with his granddaughter, Jennifer.  They were inseparable.
