Raymond M. Souza

Retired Fairfax Co. Deputy Sheriff, Lieutenant Raymond M. Souza (83) sadly passed away on Thursday Nov 17th.

He was born in Massachusetts to the late Gilbert and Mary Souza. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1957 and served 2 years. While enlisted he was stationed at Camp Lejeune in NC and met Barbara J. Haddock and married her on December 19, 1959. Barbara preceded him in death on May 15th, 2008. 

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Lori Dowling (Sonny) and son, Michael(Kim). He was preceded in death by his sons Raymond(d. 2013) and James(d. 2019).

He has four grandchildren Janna(Omar), Kennidy, JD, and Walker and 4 great grandchildren: Mikai, Andrado, Raylin and Ayden.  

Raymond joined the Fairfax Co Sheriff's Department on May 6, 1974 and retired a 2nd Lieutenant on January 8, 2005. He was also a member of the Alexandria Fraternal Order of the Eagles 871 for 32 years. He made many friends at the Eagles. He was loved by many and cared for them all deeply. He also was a member of the American Legion.
