Robert Ernest Meade, Sr.

Master Sergeant Meade was born November 10, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York to William and Audrey Meade. He attended Boys High School and graduated in June of 1974. On January 31, 1976 , MSgt. Meade entered service into the Marine Corp at Recruit Training Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon Completion of recruit training in April 1976, he received orders to Basic Motor Transport Maintenance School, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In 1976, MSgt. Meade reported for duty at 2nd Bn, 3rd Marines, Headquarters and Service Company, Motor Transport Platoon.

In April 1980, MSgt. Meade received orders to 2nd Marine Air Wing, Marine Support Group-27, Detachment "A", Marine Corp Air Station North Carolina. He served as Maintenance Chief, Supervising the daily repair and Maintenance of more than 100 pieces of equipment and 60 Marines. In June 1982, MSgt. Meade served with Headquarters and Service Company, MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii as licensing Instructor, vehicle instructor, vehicle inspector, and wrecker operator. In June 1985, MSgt. Meade was assigned to 1st Maintenance Bn, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as shop chief. Upon promotion to Staff Sergeant, MSgt. Meade was transferred to 1st Bn 5th Marines, as Motor Transport Chief, During his tour with 1st Bn 5th Marines, MSgt. Meade deployed three times to include fighting fires in Yellow Stone National Park.

MSgt. Meade reported for duty at Headquarters Support Battalion, Camp Lejuene in May of 1989 Serving as Assistant Boy Scout Coordinator, MSgt. Meade performed over 300 tours visiting Boy Scout Organizations. In 1992, MSgt. Meade was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and transferred to 3rd SRIG, Okinawa, Japan as Motor Transport Maintenance Chief.

In 1995, MSgt. Meade received orders to Marine Corp Barracks, Washington DC where he served as Motor Transport Chief, Motor Transport Section, Headquarters and Service Company. MSgt. Meade was promoted to his present rank December 1, 1997.

MSgt. Meade schools include: Basic Motor Transport Mechanics Course, 3rd and 4th echelon, Sgt's Course, SNCO Course, Career Maintenance Management Course, Hazardous Waste Course, Fire Suppression Course and Ceremonial Drill School.

MSgt. Meade is married and survived by the former Delores James of Jamesville, North Carolina. They have 3 children. Robert Jr., Lenny, Jamar
