Sada Ann Johnson

April 18, 1937 ~ May 8, 2022 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Springfield Va. - the beloved wife of the late Sonny Johnson and a dearly loved mom and grandmother, died peacefully at her home on May 8, 2022.

Born on April 18, 1937, in Morgantown WV and moved as a child to Alexandria Virginia, she spent most of her life in the area. She attended GW High School and met the love of her life in 1952 as a 15 year old. Sonny aka "the golden toe" was a GW football player and they dated through high school and college and married in 1959. They were married for 53 years until Sonny passed away in 2012.

Sada worked at the Federal Reserves as a secretary and put her career on hold as she raised 3 children. Her love for people not only showed in loving her children, but also being a second mom to all the neighborhood children, and all of her kids' friends. She led Sunday School for the children at First Baptist Church and started the Mother's Day Out program at the church that is still going today.

When her girls were in school she worked for a reality company, was the assistant to the manager of Woodies, was the concierge at Sunrise Senior Living and volunteered at the schools her kids attended.

Everytime someone describes Sada you hear the words kind, sweet, encouraging and "my second mom." She loved animals and she blessed her family with saying "yes" to almost every animal as a pet. Her house was filled with everything from cats to a skunk and snakes and ferrets. She loved cheez-its, chocolate, pink fingernails, the beach, flowers and birds. She was known for her oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies and her homemade rolls. Yum! She was an avid Redskins fan and never missed a home game in 50 years. The Beverly Hills area knew the Johnsons and Weitzells as they sold the freshest and most beautiful Christmas trees for many, many years!

She leaves her children, Kim Karlinchak (John), Jill Johnson, Robin Oswald; her grandchildren Nick and Sarah Karlinchak and Trent and Byrce Oswald; brother Roy "Buz" Weitzell (Ruby).

On Sunday, May 15, there will be a visitation at 11:30am and a celebration of life at 12:30 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home (Alexandria). At 2:00 she will be laid to rest at Mt Comfort Cemetery.
