Thipoudone Sykhammountry

Thipoudone Sykhammountry, 69, also known as "Ma" or "Ma Thang," died on February 27th, 2020 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. following complications from her breast cancer treatment. 

Ma was born as Thipoudone Insysiengmai in 1944 to Captain Pao and Mae Nou Dum, as the eldest of 9 children. Ma and her devoted husband, Bounthanh "Pa" Sykhammountry, crossed Laos to the refugee camp in 1983 and came to the United States and Arlington in 1984.

Ma was a dedicated wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and more to her local Laos community in Arlington, Virginia and beyond. You could find her at her home gardening, cooking, and entertaining extended family and friends - she loved sharing her home with others. She was particularly famous for her "Sai Oua" (Lao sausages).  

Ma is survived by her husband, Pa, seven children, Tui, Yee, Monk, Khamp, Souky, Peaches, and Soy, and her seven grandchildren, Mark, Tiffani, Dylan, Tanner, Cailyn, Hailey, and Tyler.
