Vipola Nginn, 66 of Alexandria, died Sunday, July 17, 2022
Born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on September 27, 1955, to the late General Thappana Nginn and Rom Roeung Khuth, Mr. Nginn was a life-long resident of Alexandria, Virginia. He studied abroad in Taiwan prior to arriving to the United States in 1975 with his younger brother, Kessara. Mr. Nginn was dedicated to the Khmer community and spent a great deal of time helping Cambodian refugees as a translator. He was very passionate about his country and wanted to help create a more positive and peaceful change for his fellow compatriots. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became more involved with Khmer politics in the US.
Mr. Nginn spent a better part of his professional career as a building engineer working at various companies, that included the Hyatt, Embassy Suites and most recently, retiring with the RMR Group. He had many hobbies that included playing in a band, music, and dancing. But the most important of them all was spending time with his family, friends and especially, spoiling his 5 grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Boramy (Nhim) Nginn, three daughters, Odommoni, Vitya and Paulette Nginn, as well as his eldest sister, Suvaly (Nginn) Ang, and younger brother, Kessara Nginn. Mr. Nginn was predeceased by his brothers, Chottona Nginn and Vichara Nginn.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 11am -12pm with the funeral service to follow at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home & Crematory, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA. 22302.
