Marcella Rose McVey (Age 92) died peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Marcie was preceded in death by her first husband Lawrence (Larry) Paul who died in the Korean War and second husband William Hugh (Mac) McVey who died in 2014. She was a devoted loving mother to Tami McVey and William (Randy) McVey and an adoring grandmother to Elizabeth McVey.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois to John and Elizabeth (Hochnadel) Artzer and was raised in Sterling, Colorado. Marcie served as a military spouse making a home for her family at various Air Force bases across the United States and in Spain. She and her family settled in Arlington, Virginia upon her husband Mac’s retirement in 1973. She has been described as beautiful, feisty, tough and lively, one who always spoke her mind and with a playful sense of humor, a kick, a flirt, a firecracker, a talented seamstress, and best grandma in the world. She loved her church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles, and most of all her kids and granddaughter.
A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 830 23rd Street South, Arlington, Virginia 22202 at 2:00 p.m. on February 21. Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined. The family suggests that, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Capital Caring Hospice at capitalcaring.org.
